Faxon has deep farming roots. The town was named for Ralph Faxon, a private secretary to a U.S. Senator, and its post office opened back in 1902. A railway reached the town the following year, connecting it to Lawton, and by 1908 Faxon supported two cotton gins along with several local shops.
